Life Is Elsewhere - A poem by Quinton Deveraux 4 October 2019
Age always defines the measure of beauty;
towards the sun is the journey we all walk.
Young and old pay their dues in the line of duty;
with strangers somewhere in the week we talk.
A baby takes it first steps on wobbly feet;
with a shaking tremble an old person moves forward.
The story of life is continuous not left in concrete;
you change and grow outside and inward.
By a huge lake two trees left in a grey shadowy mist;
a man thinks back on what he has left behind.
Slowly the ripples of water flow straight not in a twist;
a woman remembers that moment of being kind.
Can you change what you truly call this life;
into a planet, a being, a animal, something elsewhere.
Is there a previous, a next or even an afterlife;
found in beings here, there and even everywhere.
